Tom Petty, Legendary Singer-Songwriter Dies at 66

It was reported earlier today that rock icon Tom Petty died after suffering cardiac arrest. A new report claims that report was made erroneously and that Petty remains in the hospital in critical condition.

TMZ reported this morning that Petty was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital Sunday night after being found at his home in Malibu unconscious, not breathing, and in full cardiac arrest. According to TMZ, the singer was put on life support. When the singer showed no signs of brain activity, a decision was made to pull him from life support. CBS News reported that the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Petty’s death, but an update from TMZ claims that the report is inaccurate and he is still “clinging to life.”
